First Lunar Eclipse 2020 (Chand Grahan) to Be on 10th January in Pakistan

The first lunar eclipse, chand grahan in Pakistan 2020 will take place on the night of 10th January, it will also be a penumbral lunar eclipse, also known as wolf moon eclipse.

On 10th January, it will be a penumbral lunar eclipse. The penumbral lunar eclipse 2020 in Pakistan will take place when the sun, Earth, and the moon are incorrectly ranged, during this phase the earth blocks some of the sun’s light from directly reaching the Moon’s surface and covers all or part of the moon with the outer part of its shadow, also identified as the penumbra.

The moon often appears grey because of this and is called a “Wolf Moon” eclipse as well.

The moon eclipse 2020 in Pakistan to occur on 10th January in many countries from Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. It will not be visible in the United States, central Canada and a majority of South America.

The first lunar eclipse 2020 to occur in between the night of 10and 11 January in many countries from Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, much of North America, East in South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean and Arctic. It will not be visible in the United States, central Canada and a majority of South America.

Total duration of 10th January lunar eclipse:

As per the information, the moon eclipse 2020 in Pakistan on 10th January is expected to take place from around 10.00 pm to 2.00 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST). During the eclipse, 90% of the moon’s surface will be partially covered by the Earth with only the external part of the shadow appearing.

The full experience, from the start of the lunar eclipse to the end, will last 4 hours.

Is there a need for eclipse viewing glasses?

Unlike with solar eclipses, you can watch the chand grahan in Pakistan 2020 with naked eyes there will be completely no risk to your eyesight. Though, binoculars or a small telescope will be used to watch the details on the lunar surface.

Upcoming Lunar Eclipse in 2020:

In the year 2020, there will be six eclipses, 2 solar eclipses and 4 lunar eclipses. The other 3 penumbral lunar eclipses will take place on 5th June, 5th July, and 30th November, respectively.
