The government has officially announced the hajj policy of 2020. Here are the complete details for securing a berth for Hajj 2020 the hajj applications would be entertained from the first week of February.

The federal government of Pakistan announced the hajj policy for 2020 in which 179,000 Pakistanis to perform Hajj this year, it was revealed by an official of Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony here on Wednesday.
The policy was announced by the federal cabinet in its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The official sources of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony informed that the draft of Hajj policy 2020 is being finalized after consultations and this year hajj would be more expensive as the single person need to pay Rs.0.5 million to perform the religious duty.
This year, the Hajj under the government package will be Rs. 486,270 to per person in the northern region, and Rs. 478,520 for the southern region, and they need to pay Rs. 22,885 for Qurbani.
The minister also revealed that a quota of 1,000 people has been allocated for overseas Pakistanis, and citizens over the age of 70 will be selected without balloting this year.
The reasons of increase in Hajj expenses 2020 increased in Riyal-Rupee par ratio, increase in insurance premium, increase in rents of property at Makkah and Madina, the imposition of visa fee, Value Added Tax, (VAT), increase in Maktab fee and airlines were also the cause of the increase in hajj expense 2020.
The banks would start accepting the hajj applications 2020 for securing a berth in Government Hajj Scheme form the general public in February.
This year the government has also increased the hajj quota, the quota of private and government scheme would be retained at 40:60 percent. This year over 200,000 Pakistanis would perform hajj.
The ministry has also proposed an open sky policy for airlines in 2019 to transport pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
Furthermore, for the hajj 2020, the government has also allocated the hajj quota to the new Hajj Group Organisers (HGOs).
How to Avoid Hajj Scam?
In order to prevent Hajj scam and fraud, there is SMS service. People can use this service launched by the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony to have complete information about the Hajj group organizing companies (HGOs).
You can authenticate the HGOs by simply sending a single SMS and in return, you get the complete details about the HGOs. If you planning to perform hajj 2020 through the Hajj Group Organisers (HGO) you need to ensure the HGO’s authenticity by writing the first four digits of HGO’s enrollment numbers from mobile phone and to send it 8331.
The reply will also include the details about the enrollment status of the HGO, the name of its chief executive, its selected quota and address.

Some of the private HOGs and banks are directly or through their agents are asking for money from the people on the name of Hajj applications. The ministry has warned strict action against the banks and HGOs as the
Receiving hajj dues before the announcement of the hajj policy is illegal and liable to legal action. The announcement of the hajj policy 2020 would be made on media and also placed on the website www.hajjinfo.org. Therefore the Ministry has warned people must not submit hajj applications or ink hajj agreement with any HGOs without permission of the ministry if they do so they himself will bear the consequences.
When will banks accept Hajj applications 2020?
The hajj applications 2020 for securing a berth in Government Hajj Scheme form the general public will start by the first week of February as per the information.
The banks will need to follow the strict rules devised by the government in receiving Hajj applications under the government hajj scheme. The eligible banks should have at least 250 branches across the country to entertain the hajj applications.
The banks should have different counters at each elected branch, besides arranging special staff for supervising the intending pilgrims in submitting the applications for hajj 2020.

The intended pilgrims need to have the following document before applying for the government hajj 2020;
Passport (Machine Readable Passport with maximum expiry date of February 1, 2021)
Recent Passport sized photographs
Must know his/her blood group.
When will be the Hajj 2020 draw?
The draw to choose the pilgrims for hajj in this year through the government hajj scheme will be held sometime in February. The hajj applicants of over 80 years age would be selected without any balloting.
