Islamic Year 1443 Hijri: First Muharram 2021 to be on August 9 in Pakistan. Mostly after the month of Zilhajj people search about when the will be first Muharram. The Islamic Year 1443 Hijri is all set to begin and as per the details, the first Muharram 2021 in Pakistan will be on the evening of 9th August and will last till September. The Islamic year depends on the movement of the moon.

The beginning of each Islamic month is marked by the sighting of the new moon. All the Islamic events depend on the observation of the new moon. In Pakistan, Ruit-e-Hilal Committee is responsible for the sighting of the new moon and makes the official announcement after watching it under the leadership of  Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

The Islamic year in Pakistan and other Muslim countries begins with the sighting of the Muharram Moon. Muharram referred as Al-Hijra is the first month of the Islamic calendar. Muharram means “Forbidden”, is one of the four sacred months of the Islamic year including Ramadan. The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar and the Islamic months varied from the months of the Gregorian calendar.

There are 12 months of the Islamic Calendar and here is the list of Islamic months:

Muslims all across the world start the New Year with the first Islamic month Muharram, keep fast and the tenth day of Muharram is the Day of Ashura, which to Shia Muslims is part of the mourning of Muharram.

First Muharram 2021, 1443 Hijri

The new Islamic year of Muslims begins with Muharram. The first Muharram 2021 will be on 9th August in Pakistan. Muharram in Pakistan is all set to begin at the sunset of 9th August. The 1st Muharram 1443 Hijri will be on Tuesday on 10th August while the 9th Muharram 2021 will be 0n 18th August and the Ashura 2021 in Pakistan will be on Thursday 19th August.

Ashura 2021 in Pakistan

Ashura Day 2021 will be on 19th August in Pakistan and observes in remembrance of the massacre of Muhammad’s grandson Imam Husayn ibn Ali – and some of his family and companions – at the Battle of Karbala.

At Ashura, various religious activities will be carried out such as spiritual singing and the recitation of Quranic verses. Since special prayers and addresses are conducted in public halls and mosques at night.

Public Holiday

The government of Pakistan declares an official public holiday on 9th and 10th Muharram. There will be a public holiday on the occasion of Ashura 2021 in Pakistan.

Official Announcement of Muharram 2021 in Pakistan

The official announcement of the Muharram 2021 will be made by the central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Pakistan after sighting the Muharram moon in Pakistan. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee members gathered on 9th August 2021 for the sighting of the Muharram moon under the supervision of Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad in Pakistan. The official announcement of the 1st Muharram 2021 in Pakistan was made by the Chairman of the committee.
