Lt. General Asim Munir to be a New Army Chief of Pakistan

Lt. General Asim Munir is to be named the new army chief of Pakistan. He has become the 11th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Pakistan Army. Lt. General Asim Munir will replace General Qamar Javed Bajwa as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan.

Today Federal Minister for Information, Marriyum Aurangzeb revealed the appointment of the new army chief of Pakistan on Twitter.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa will officially retire on 29th November and the Lt. General Asim Munir will hold the position for the next 6 years.

He began his military career in 1986 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General in September 2018. In October 2018 he was selected as the DG Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He served as the DG ISI till June 2019. He was later appointed as Corps Commander Gujranwala till October 2021. He had been serving as Quartermaster General since October 2021 till his appointment as the 11th COAS of the Pakistan army.
