The Islamic Year 1445 Hijri: First Muharram 2023 to be on July 19 in Pakistan. Mainly after the month of Zilhajj people search about when the will be first Muharram. The Islamic Year 1445 Hijri is all set to begin and as per the details, the first Muharram 2023 in Pakistan will be on the evening of July 19 and will last till August. The Islamic year depends on the movement of the moon.

The sighting of the new moon marks the beginning of each Islamic month. All Islamic events depend on the observation of the new moon. In Pakistan, Ruit-e-Hilal Committee is responsible for the sighting of the new moon and makes the official announcement after watching it under the leadership of  Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department said that the new moon of Muharram will be born on the crossing conjunction point at 11:32 pm on 17th July. Therefore, the Muharram Chand 2023 will be sighted the next day, on the 18th of July.

According to PMD,

“There is a slight chance of sighting the new moon of Muharram, 1445 AH on the evening of 18-07-2023 i.e. on 29th of Zilhaj, 1444 AH,” the PMD said in a notification issued in this regard.

The central committee for the Muharram moon sighting will observe the crescent in Quetta under the chairmanship of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

The Islamic year in Pakistan and other Muslim countries begins with the sighting of the Muharram Moon. Muharram, called Al-Hijra, is the first month of the Islamic calendar. Muharram means “Forbidden” and is one of the four sacred months of the Islamic year, including Ramadan.

The Islamic calendar is lunar, and the Islamic months varied from the Gregorian calendar.

There are 12 months of the Islamic Calendar and here is the list of Islamic months:

Muslims worldwide start the New Year with the first Islamic month, Muharram, keeping fast, and the tenth day of Muharram is the Day of Ashura, which to Shia Muslims, is part of the mourning of Muharram.

Ashura Day 2023 will be on July 29 in Pakistan and observes in remembrance of the massacre of Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Husayn ibn Ali – and some of his family and companions – at the Battle of Karbala.

At Ashura, various religious activities will be carried out, such as spiritual singing and reciting Quranic verses. The special prayers and addresses are conducted in public halls and mosques at night.

Public Holiday on Ashura 2023:

The government of Pakistan declares an official public holiday on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. There will be a public holiday on Ashura 2023 in Pakistan. The federal government has issued an official notification regarding the Ashura holidays. Public holidays on 28 and 29 July (Friday and Saturday) will be observed for the 9th and 10th Muharram.

The central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Pakistan has officially announced the Muharram 2023 after sighting the Muharram moon in Pakistan. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee members gathered on July 18, 2023, for the sighting of the Muharram moon under the supervision of Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad in Pakistan. The Chairman of the committee officially announced the 1st Muharram 2023 in Pakistan.
