Government is Likely to Block TikTok in Pakistan

The famous video creating and sharing app TikTok will be blocked in Pakistan due to its spreading the obscene and vulgar content.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has requested TikTok to block video creating and sharing app to block the access of the accounts that are spreading nudity and vulgar content in Pakistan.

PM has also directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to cleanse the Internet, social media, and various apps of vulgarity for users in Pakistan.

Tik Tok is a famous social media app for creating and sharing short videos and as per the reports, the young generation is spending much time on making useless and indecent videos on this application.

Now the government of Pakistan on the concern of PM due to the increase of nudity and vulgar content is planning to block Tik Tok.
According to Minister of Information Shibli Faraz, Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered the concerned government departments to limit and block apps like TikTok that are ‘growing obscenity and vulgarity’ in the country.

Prime Minister demanded to block Tik Tok in the country. He added that PM has discussed this issue with him not once or twice, but 15 or 16 times.

Furthermore, he wants a comprehensive strategy to check the vulgarity spreading in society. Through mainstream outlets as well as social media and its applications.

Just like the social media app Musical.ly, Tik Tok gained much popularity in 2017 after its merger with the Musical.ly and in 2018 it becomes one of the most popular applications in the world downloaded on iPhone and Android devices allows users to create and remix short videos. Both Tik Tok and Musical.ly are owned by Chinese firm Bytedance.

In Pakistan the social media app Tik Tok is used by a large number of people who spend much of their time in making videos and sharing with friends in order to get more likes and comments.

Many people believe that TikTok, with its addicting nature, is adversely affecting the society in sub-continent countries and it should be blocked in Pakistan.

Last year a citizen, belonging to Nowshera district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, filed a complaint against the social media app on  Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Citizen Portal App, which is created in October last year with an aim to “timely address the problems of the people and get their feedback”, was quick to forward the complaint to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

There are a number of reports that are suggesting that the government of Pakistan is all set to take action against the TikTok and this social media application will be banned in the country.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is reportedly all set block video creating and sharing app. PTA has also asked the TikTok to block the access of the vulgar and obscene content in the country.

This move of the government is well appreciated by a large number of people as they are of the view that this app is adversely affecting the society.
