KPK Govt. Decides to Give Rs. 10,000 Stipend to Prayer Leaders

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to give Rs. 10, 000 monthly stipend to nearly 28000 prayer leaders of main Mosques in whole province. According to derails, in first phase as many as 27096 prayer leaders would get stipend of Rs. 10, 000 to indefinite period.

Qasir Alam, KP Information secretary has stated this while taking to the participants of the meeting. He said that in the first phase prayer leaders of “Jamia Mosques” would be selected for stipend. In the next phase prayers leaders of Towns and in 3rd phase prayer leaders of villages would avail this facility, he added.

He said that Rs. 3.25 billion would be allocated for prayers leader’s stipend in the next budget.
Earlier, Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak has given approval this in the last held cabinet meeting.
After the meeting it stated that stipend would be directly transferred to the bank accounts of eligible imams for which modalities were being worked out.
An official committee will be set up at the district level, which will choose main mosques, whose prayer leaders are to get the stipend.
“The opinion of the masjid committees will also be given due consideration in the process,” it added. The committee in case of the change of imam will send their nomination of new prayer leader to the district committee.
According to media, currently, 3,028 seminaries are functioning in the province.
The establishment department amended the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rules of Business a few days ago to give the education department the role of supervising seminaries. Dept to handle registration, curriculum, exam, monitoring affairs.
