No Basant Festival in the Province, Government Denies Approval. There were news at TV channels that the government of Punjab has consented to celebrate the Basant Festival in the province.

Punjab Chief Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hussain Chauhan has announced to celebrate the basant festive in Punjab.

Today the government of Punjab has refuted the news for the approval of Basant Festival in the province in February .

Punjab government decides not to celebrate the basant festival. As per the media reports senior provincial minister Abdul Aleem khan has decide not to celebrate the basant festival in the province in a meeting. He said the detailed answer from the government will be submitted tomorrow regarding the basant.

He added that the decision of not celebrating bansat has been done in public interest.

Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem khan told to the media that if the institutions demonstrate responsibility, such festivals can be celebrated in the future, but currently it cannot allow due to the use of the metal thread.

He said that legal action should be taken on the use of metal wire. Preparation of thread and kite should be registered under the proper system. He said to make this festival more secure four to six months required.

Remember that the move to celebrate basant in Punjab was challenged by the Advocate Safdar Shahin, who filed a petition against the Punjab Government’s plea in the Lahore High Court. In the petition he mentioned that the format of the Basant bloody game and took the life of innocent people and it should not restored in the province.

On December 18, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar expressed interest in celebrating basant festival in Punjab. Under which Chief Minister Punjab formed the committee to celebrate the festival of kites.

Here it is worth mentioning that this festival was banned in the days of former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan had banned the celebration of the Basant festival in the country in 2005, over the number of deaths by the use of sharp and glass coasted string.
