PTA Launches A System To Permanently Block Snatched/ Smuggled Mobile Phones

PTA Launches A System To Permanently Block Snatched/ Smuggled Mobile Phones. There is a good news for them whose mobile phones have been snatched or stolen. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken a step forward and launched a new system called Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) in order to permanently block the snatched and smuggled mobile phones in the country.

The Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) by PTA will essentially remove any illegal, snatched and smuggled mobile phones and devices in Pakistan.

PTA has declared the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) back in September and guaranteed that this system will permanently block the import and trade of non-compliant mobile phones in the country.

How Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System Works?

PTA said that the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS)  is capable of detecting the non-compliant mobile phones’ IMEI numbers of the handset will be used, while other mobile identifying tools will also be applied. Once non-compliant mobile phones are found and detected by cellular operators, they will be black-listed and won’t work with any mobile network in Pakistan. These snatched and smuggled mobile phones will be blocked after detection permanently.

How to check mobile phone IMEI Number?

IMEI number comes with all mobile phone allocated by GSMA across the world. It’s in fact an identity number of your mobile phone. I am using a Samsung device and its IMEI number is printed at the back where phone battery placed. The IMEI number also presents on the box of the device.

You can also check and confirm the IMEI number of your mobile phone by checking it on box and mobile phones.

You can also check the IMEI number of your mobile phones by dialing the *#06# on the mobile phones.

Before the launch of Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System, PTA will offer a Device Verification System (DVS) for the public that will be available through the DIRBS website/mobile app or through SMS to check the validity of the mobile phone.

The Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) by PTA is a good initiative and will be very useful for the public which is facing lots of problems owing to the unavailability of an competent system to thwart criminal activities involving mobile phones.
